Pay Equity Settlement

Following a lengthy conciliation process, AMUSE and McGill reached a settlement agreement in December 2018 to resolve our pay equity complaints from 2010 and 2015. As a result, AMUSE Unit A members dating back to 2010 will receive a retroactive pay increase.

If you worked as an AMUSE casual (whether Class A, B, or C) or a MUNACA replacement worker anytime between December 21, 2010 and December 7, 2018, then you are included in this settlement (Floor Fellows are Unit B members, and are not affected). The amount of money owed to you by McGill increases according to how recently and how much (calculated by the amount of hours) you have worked at McGill.

Because thousands of AMUSE workers are affected over a period dating back up to eight years, the process will take some time. Present and past AMUSE members will be contacted directly about their retroactive payments in the coming months; if you are currently working, you should be contacted and paid by McGill directly. We will also be sending further details for anyone needing to update their contact information.

The lump sum payment should equal to:
3.5% of the amount earned between December 21, 2010 and December 31, 2012
5.5% of the amount earned between January 1, 2013 and December 31, 2015
7.5% of the amount earned between January 1, 2016 and December 2018.

Note that members who were employed as MUNACA replacement workers are only eligible for retroactive payments on earnings up to December 31, 2015.

The best thing you can do if you are worried about not getting your payment from McGill is to ensure that your banking and contact information under the “Employee” tab on Minerva is up to date. We will continue to provide updates as the process continues!

If you have any concerns, please contact Emails received from ARE legitimate.
