AMUSE News: Open Positions, Survey and June Differentiation for Class C

    Executive Position Opening: Vice President Communications and Outreach

The election of a new AMUSE Communications and Outreach Officer will be taking place next week, on June 6th. Any member in good standing is eligible to run for the position, and the term is for the rest of the calendar year as all positions become open again at the Annual General Meeting in January. The Communications position entails:

  • Be responsible for creating and soliciting content for the Local’s newsletter to be distributed regularly to the membership
  • Maintain an up to date and functional website that reflects the current activities of the Local
  • Liaise with AMUSE’s translator to ensure that, to the greatest extent possible, we are providing bilingual material.
  • Be responsible for the visibility of the Local, on campus and in social media, and the communication of relevant information to the membership and public
  • Be the first contact for general inquiries
  • Develop and coordinate political and outreach campaigns
  • Direct outreach and mobilization of the Local
  • Work with Stewards to distribute information and materials

    This is a paid position at $15/hour and is a time commitment of 8 hours/week from August and 10 hours/week from September-May.

    We are asking all non-student members to please fill out this short survey regarding ID cards ( so we can better understand the issues and obstacles involved with not having a McGill ID card in terms of accessing buildings and their workplaces. We are going to be using this info in a committee with McGill that is looking at getting non-student casuals access to ID cards. We would very much appreciate your answers and input!       June Differentiation for Class C and 1% Raise Increases Across the Board

    This is a reminder that Class C employees receive a pay increase to $14.00 per hour as of June 1st, 2017. As well, all employees (Classes A and B) should be receiving a 1% raise as of June 1st, 2017. If you are unsure what Class you fall into, please refer your supervisor or get in touch with us at AMUSE.       Open Spots on BoR

    We have three spots open on the Board of Representatives and we strongly encourage you to run for them. Being a member of the Board of Representatives is a one-year commitment. The BoR is a great way to get involved with AMUSE and support the union while having your voice truly heard. You can find out more about the BoR here and/or come to our next BoR on June 6th, at 6pm at AMUSE (515 Ave des Pins).
