MUNACA and AMUSE are hiring! We are looking for a summer intern to help us with the ongoing merger process between our two unions. This is a paid internship through the FTQ Fonds Solidarité.
The contract start date is May 4th and end date is July 10th. Unfortunately there is no possibility of renewal as this is a grant-based position. A description of the position can be found below. If you or anyone you know is interested in the position, please apply or encourage them to apply!
SUMMER INTERN: Merger facilitation and research
Rate of pay: $16.00/hr
Schedule: 35 hours/week
Requirements for hire (based on the grant):
- Registered full- or part-time as a student in a post-secondary program in both the Winter 2015 and Fall 2015 semesters.
- No prior employment through the Fonds-FTQ stagière program.
Responsibilities:
- Work with members of the AMUSE and MUNACA executive and merger committees to facilitate technical aspects of the ongoing merger project
- Prepare a detailed analysis of both organization’s bylaws and budget and, in cooperation with members of the merger committee, draft merged bylaws and a combined budget for presentation to the membership
- Help members of the merger committee present bylaw and budget proposals to the various executives, Boards, Councils, and committees of their organizations
- Research various legal and technical aspects of a merger as questions arise, and report back to the merger committee
- Participate in the merger committee by taking minutes and doing follow-up
- Perform various other tasks relating to the merger
- Aid in the preparation of special events and meetings
- Help with other arising tasks as needed
- Attend a two-day training session with the Fonds-FTQ in July
A good candidate for the position would be:
- Able to work autonomously
- Experienced and detail-oriented in policy-related matters
- Experienced in conflict resolution and facilitation
- Knowledgeable and interested in labour and social justice issues
- Bilingual (ability to understand spoken and written French)
