AMUSE is always planning events that you can get involved in. In addition to general outreach events, any member can join a committee at any time. If you would like to join a committee, please contact the Chair ahead of time so that they may inform you of the meeting agenda, and answer any questions you may have.
Everyone who has been, is, or will be a Work Study super student is invited to grab some ice cream and on Thursday the 23rd, in the SSMU basement beside Gerts!
While we're beating the summer heat with delicious cold treats, we'd like to chat about your experience as a Work Study employee, and how we're taking it into consideration during bargaining this year.
Even if you're not a work study, still feel free to come by for a treat!
Pride tells the story of Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM), a queer solidarity group that formed to support the pivotal 1984-85 strike by the UK's National Union of Mineworkers against the Thatcher government. Following the screening will be a Q&A; discussion with founding LGSM member and secretary, and long-time labour activist Mike Jackson. We’ll discuss the importance of thinking about labour when working for LGBTQ liberation, the challenges and opportunities of joining struggles in solidarity, and how we can apply lessons from the queer left past to the fight against austerity today.
