Collective Agreement Bargaining
Did you know that your union is currently bargaining our next collective agreement? Are you feeling lost and confused about what we’re fighting for, and how the process is going? Fear not, AMUSE friends! Starting this week, after every bargaining session you’ll receive a brief email summarizing relevant updates, woo! Don’t worry, it won’t be too frequent. As always, if you have any other questions around bargaining, don’t hesitate to ask!

Save the Date: AMUSE-AMURE Hallow’s Eve Eve Soiree
Calling all ghouls, goblins, and gremlins! Come in a costume or just bring your spooky soul to the infamous annual Hallow’s Eve Eve Soiree on Friday, October 30th, from 5pm-9pm. Complete with tricks and treats, the AMUSE/AMURE building (515 Pins Ouest) will be filled with haunting hosts and grizzly games…it’s going to be a gourd time!
Regretfully, the AMUSE/AMURE building is not wheelchair accessible. We also ask that folks refrain from wearing scents, and costumes that are appropriative of marginalized groups, for example headdresses. Thanks for your consideration
$15 and Fair
AMUSE and other unions at McGill are continuing to develop our fight for $15 and Fair! You can find a more detailed criteria and plan for what this looks like on our website. We’re also in need of membership feedback and help - email me if you’re interested!
Floor Fellows demanding Pay and Respect!
Our Unit B, Floor Fellows, are hard at work calling for the McGill Administration to “Respect Floor Fellows, Support Students”, through an open letter to Principal Fortier, signed by 96 current and former floor fellows. Still deep in the bargaining process, Floor Fellows are continuing to push for their anti-oppressive, harm reductive values to be included in their collective agreement, and more. Read about it here and here!
Are you being paid correctly?
AMUSE has recently learned that some of our workers are being paid $10.55, the Quebec minimum wage. However, according to our Collective Agreement, all members must be making at least 10 cents above minimum wage, so $10.65. Please speak with your supervisor if you are being paid below this minimum, and, as always, feel free to contact our Labour Relations Officer for any assistance or further information!
Film Screening
On October 28th at 6pm, AMURE and AMUSE will be hosting a film screening of Michel Brault’s Les Ordres, a 1974 Quebec historical drama about the incarceration of innocent civilians by Trudeau #1 during the October Crisis of 1970.
CKUT

CKUT, the campus-community radio station based at McGill, is holding a fee levy referendum question for all PGSS students! Find out more info here. Don’t forget to check out AMUSE hosting the 11am show on Mondays (I’m on hiatus for the next 3 weeks, but after that we’ll be back to fun radio union times!).
SOS Université
SOS Université, a group formed to organize protests against the provincial government’s budget cuts affecting the universities, invites interested members to sign their petition and participate in a November 3rd event in Quebec City when the petition will be presented to the government. If you are interested in signing the petition and/or participating in the demo, you can find more information here.
