Hey Team,
Hope everyone is doing well, and getting ready for students to return over the next week! Here are some lovely updates to send you into Fall semester! Please don’t forget to fill out the bargaining surveys!
Floor Fellow Zine and AGM
The Floor Fellows will be holding their first AGM on Friday, August 29th, 2014 at 1pm. It will be held in the Royal Victoria College (RVC) West Lounge and we encourage all Floor Fellows to attend!
In addition to this, an awesome zine has been created about the history of Floor Fellow labour struggles and organizing at McGill. Print copies are available in the AMUSE office, and an online version can be found here.
Vacation Pay Flow Chart
We’ve noticed that members often have difficulty getting their vacation pay, or figuring out what they are entitled to, so we’ve created a handy flowchart to help you out! You can find it here or by clicking on the image!
Meet your Union page updated!
One of my main goals since taking on this position has been to get the website updated and looking fresh. The appearance was overhauled a few months ago, and this week the “Meet your Union” page has been fully updated to include profiles on all of our current Board of Representative and Executive members. Ever wondered why they got involved in the union? Or what their favourite baby animal is? It’s all here!
Bargaining Surveys
Unit A’s collective agreement with McGill, which covers the working conditions of temporary full-time and part-time support employees at the university, is set to expire in April 2015. So after over two years with the current contract, AMUSE is preparing to bargain a second contract with McGill! We hope to make significant gains and use the negotiations as an opportunity to improve your job and the jobs of all casual support staff at McGill. However, the bargaining team needs everyone’s help - we need to know what you would like changed, and what your priorities are.
Please take a few minutes to fill out our bargaining survey. It won’t take long, but will go a long way in giving your bargaining team a strong mandate and a clear picture of what you want to fight for!
