We’re Hiring!

AMUSE is looking to hire an Outreach Coordinator specifically focused on our full-time members. The position will start September 1st, 2014 and go until April 30th, 2015, with the possibility of renewal. A description of the position can be found below. If you or anyone you know is interested in the position, please apply or encourage them to apply!

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE POSITION, feel free to get in touch with [email protected] or [email protected].

AMUSE has an employment equity policy in effect. Please indicate in your cover letter if you would like to be considered for employment equity.

DEADLINE (extended): Wednesday, August 20th at Midnight

New Additions to the Library!

The Library Committee has been hard at work collecting new radical
labour literature for your reading pleasure! Come by during office
hours to browse our selection, make suggestions, or check-out a book,
pamphlet, or zine!

Are you a Research Assistant? Doing Research Work?

Surprisingly, a lot of membership forms we receive are for people working ‘Research Assistant’ jobs! Research Assistants and people doing research work should be members of AMURE - the union that represents them. If you are working as a Research Assistant or doing research work, but are receiving communications from AMUSE, please get in touch with [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) so that we can address this issue! Though we love having you, being a member of AMURE would secure you a significantly higher minimum rate of pay, so it is in your interest!

Bargaining Surveys

Unit A’s collective agreement with McGill, which covers the working conditions of temporary full-time and part-time support employees at the university, is set to expire in April 2015. So after over two years with the current contract, AMUSE is preparing to bargain a second contract with McGill! We hope to make significant gains and use the negotiations as an opportunity to improve your job and the jobs of all casual support staff at McGill. However, the bargaining team needs everyone’s help - we need to know what you would like changed, and what your priorities are.

Please take a few minutes to fill out our bargaining survey. It won’t take long, but will go a long way in giving your bargaining team a strong mandate and a clear picture of what you want to fight for!
