1. CA Spotlight: The Holiday Issue

Winter is almost here, and although this means happy-snow-time for some, it can mean miserable-cold-time for others. Hence a reminder about sick days for AMUSE members working full-time.

If you’ve been working full-time for 6 months and have completed your probationary period, you have a right to 6 sick days per year. You accumulate 1 sick day per month worked in a full-time job and this is capped at 6. Your sick days expire after the end of the year, so use them while you can!

Note that if you wish to take more than 2 of those days in a row, you may be asked to provide a medical certificate.

2. Drop-In for Coffee with AMUSE!

AMUSE will be holding a drop-in event in the Madelaine Parent room at SSMU on November 28th, from11-3pm. We know that it’s a busy time for members that are also students, but this also means that you may appreciate some free coffee and food! Come drop by to chat with union reps, hang with other members, hear what the union has been up to, learn about ways to get involved, or just drink coffee.

If you’ve ever been interested in running for a position on the AMUSE executive, this is a good time to come inquire!

3. Health and Safety Committee

The first meeting of the AMUSE Health and Safety Committee will be held at our office this Tuesday November 19th at noon. This will be the committee’s first meeting, so if you are interested in getting involved, but do not know much about health and safety issues, do not hesitate to join in! We will be discussing mental health in the workplace, providing health and safety training for members, as well as envisioning the function of the committee and appointing a chair.

If you’d like get involved but won’t be able to attend this meeting, send an e-mail to [email protected] and you will be kept in the loop!

4. Upcoming Board of Representatives Meeting

Our next Board of Representatives meeting will be held on November 25th at 6:00 pm in our office at our office located at 2015 Drummond Street, room 901.

All members are welcome to attend as observers.

5. Pay Stubs 101

We’ve posted a Pay stub 101 video on the AMUSE website. AMUSE Treasurer Justyn Teed breaks down the details on how to access your pay stub online and how to make sure your pay stub reflect the benefits you should be receiving. Watch the video here
