At the Ratification Vote held last Thursday, March 15, the AMUSE membership voted 96% in favour of the tentative agreement which was reached between the union and the university in late February.
This agreement comes after nearly a year of negotiations and four meetings with a conciliator appointed by the Quebec Labour Board, and includes all six bargaining priorities: fair wage increases, priority for AMUSE members for contract renewals/promotions, written contracts, paid overtime, paid sick leave, closed shop. The summary of the agreement can be viewed on the home page of this website.
We hope to sign the agreement as soon as possible, and it will come into effect on June 1 2012. In the coming months we will be working with members to make sure that the collective agreement suits the diverse needs of every member. Member participation is the most important part of this process so please do not hesitate to bring any questions, comments or concerns to the attention of AMUSE.
