  5. First Time Hearing from AMUSE? Contact us!

1. Steward Training Day

Becoming a steward is one way that you can help build the union as well as directly help your co-workers.

On Saturday September 15 we will be holding a day of workshops to educate new stewards on the union, our Collective Agreement, unions in the university sector, and more! For more information on becoming a steward or on the Steward Training Day please contact [email protected].

2. Board of Representatives Meeting

We invite all members of AMUSE to attend the Board of Representatives Meeting on Monday, September 17 at 5:00 pm in the AMUSE office at 2015 Drummond Street in office suite 901.

The Board of Representatives is the second highest governing body of AMUSE. Its task is to oversee the work of the Executive Council, and it is responsible for the constitutional and legal matters of the Union. Although the Board of Representatives consists of members of the Executive and Chief Stewards, we would like to extend an open invitation to all members to attend this next meeting .

3. Join an AMUSE Committee

Joining a committee is a great way to get involved with AMUSE that can be suited to your individual interests and strengths.

Right now we have three committee meetings planned for the coming weeks. Each of these meetings will be held at the AMUSE office, located at 2015 Drummond Street in office suite 901.

Equity Committee
Tuesday, September 25th at 5:30 - 7:00 pm
Are you interested in equity issues? Have ideas for integrating anti-oppression into the union?
This will be the first ever meeting of the Equity Committee and will be an opportunity to set goals and a mandate.

Outreach and Mobilization Committee
Monday, October 1st at 5:30 - 7:00 pm
Would you like to help plan events, write publications, and brainstorm new ideas with our mobilization team? This committee will work on expanding and improving AMUSE’s outreach campaigns, as well as building the union community.

Constitution Committee
Wednesday, October 3rd at 5:30 - 7:00 pm
We’re working on reviewing our By Laws and internal policies - if you like reading, writing, and discussions about grammar then this committee is for you! You may find our By Laws on our website at https://www.amusemcgill.org/internal-documents/bylaws and bring your ideas, or at the beginning of this meeting we will review a couple areas of focus.

4. Special General Meeting

AMUSE will hold a Special General Meeting in October to discuss and vote on a resolution to change union dues.
