Dear AMUSE members,
Our Annual General meeting is this Thursday evening. This is your opportunity to learn all about the activities of AMUSE over the past year, to have influence over the policies and direction of the union, and to vote for new Executives and Stewards.
You can find the full Annual Report on our website. The motions to be voted on are included below. You can read our newsletter from January 31 to find out more information on the elections that will take place at the meeting.
We hope you will attend to this important assembly.

- Committee to discuss a merger with MUNACA
- By-Law Changes
1. Committee to discuss a merger with MUNACA
Whereas AMUSE and MUNACA both represent non-academic support employees at McGill and are locals of the PSAC; and
Whereas the AMUSE Board of Representatives and Executive Committee have pursued informal talks with the MUNACA Executive and found that there is potential for a merger to be mutually beneficial; and
Whereas a committee can pursue this possibility in more detail and propose a structure and By-Laws for the potential new union:
Be it resolved that AMUSE strike a joint committee with MUNACA to discuss a political merger; and
Be it further resolved that this committee present a plan for merger at a General Meeting for approval by the membership.
2. By-Law Changes
Whereas aspects of the AMUSE By-Laws are outdated and no longer suit the needs of the union:
Be it resolved that the following changes be made to article 2.2 (Jurisdiction), 10.7 (General Meeting), 11 (Board of Representatives), 13 (Duties of the Officers of the Executive Committee), 14 (Stewards and Committees):
Rationale:
These proposed changes update the terms used internally to refer to “units”, the quorum needed for General Meetings, the responsibilities of Delegates to the Board and frequency of Board meetings and honoraria, the responsibilities of committees, and add an article about the “Steward Network”.
