CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: Workshop Topics in Labour
Application deadline: Tuesday, September 10th
Please send proposals to [email protected]
The McGill Inter Union Council, an autonomous group at McGill University (including MUNACA, AGSEM, AMUSE, AMURE, SSMU, and others) is organizing a ‘Labour Week’ event for this November 2013.
Labour Week aims to be an annual week long event of labour-focused workshops, panels, and speakers to create spaces for discussion about labour on and off campus.
The organizing collective recognizes that labour - like any other topic - is intersectional, complex, and participatory and would like to hear from community members. We hope to host a variety of events, covering topics that are relevant to our everyday struggles in the workplace to broader theory and solidarity with the struggles of others. Inspiration includes but is not limited to: prisons and work, reproductive labour, direct action in the workplace, colonialism and labour, sex work, labour history, gendered labour/gender in the workplace, the university-industrial complex.
Labour Week will be accepting workshops proposed by individuals or groups in the Montreal community who would like to participate.
Please include your name, contact information, a description of the proposed workshop, and a brief description of your experiences/qualifications. An honouraria of 150$ will be available for each workshop.
4. Have you heard about the AMUSE Discretionary Fund?
The discretionary fund is a way for the union to maintain links of solidarity with the community and help to support external initiatives and projects. If you’re involved in organizing a project or event that involves issues of social justice, unionization, or anti-oppression or if you know someone who is, then you should check out the guidelines for application on our website. Additional resources we can offer include access to our board room for meetings, printing and photocopying in small quantities, and the use of our office phones or computers.
