In exceptional cases, where members have experienced hardship such as a significant and unforeseeable loss of hours and/or pay, AMUSE offers hardship funding.
There are three forms of funding available: Bursary; No-Interest Loan; or Work Agreement (contracting a member to help us out in the office). It can be a combination of these. The total amount of financial help will not exceed $600. We also offer non-financial resources which would help the member find a new position.
To apply, please send the completed hardship funding request form to our Treasurer, at [email protected].
In light of McGill’s closure due to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) we anticipate many of our members will have pay and hour cuts and may find themselves in a bad financial situation. We do have emergency funds designated for members who need to apply for hardship funding but we do not have the capacity to compensate all of our members for lost pay, especially given the indefinite closures. We trust that our members will make appropriate requests based on their needs and will be considerate of the fact that this is a period of high demand.
