Mostafa Henaway & Aadi Ndir, Community Organizers, Immigrant Workers Centre (IWC)

Dan Lafrenière, Steward, McGill University Non-Academic Certified Association (MUNACA)

In the current climate of fiscal austerity imposed upon Canadians by the Conservative government in Ottawa, the immigration policy of Minister of Immigration Jason Kenney has played an essential but relatively quiet and underpublicized role, for migrant workers and for union workers.

Mostafa Henaway, Aadi NDir, and Dan Lafrenière will explore different facets of Conservative immigration and labour policies and their consequences for migrant communities and organized labour in Québec and throughout Canada. They also will highlight organizing campaigns for workers seeking fundamental rights and fair treatment in the face of exploitative employers.

FREE FOOD AND DRINK PROVIDED BY MIDNIGHT KITCHEN AND THE SOCIAL JUSTICE COMMITTEE OF MUNACA.

A Quieter Form of Austerity is sponsored by McGill University Non-Academic Certified Association/L’Association Acréditée du Personnel Non Enseignant de l’Université McGill and the Immigrant Workers Centre/Centre des Travailleurs et Travailleuses.
